How many outdoor spaces are there at Boxwood Villa.Boxwood Villa is a large private property of approximately 13.5 acres. We are extremely flexible about where ceremony, cocktails and/or reception takes place on the property.

Are there any indoor spaces?Boxwood Villa is an outdoor venue and boasts multiple locations around the Villa for ceremonies, cocktail hours and receptions. For weddings and events over 30, the indoor spaces are reserved for the lodging guests. That said, small intimate rehearsal dinners of 20 or less can be hosted inside. Restroom trailers are required for events over 30. Please note that in the event of severe weather, guests must come inside to shelter from lightening and thunder.

Is lodging required if we book Boxwood Villa for an event?A 2-night minimum is required for weddings and events hosted at Boxwood Villa. That said, we do make exceptions for some smaller and/or daytime events. Exceptions must be made by the Director of Events in writing.

When we rent Boxwood Villa, how long can we stay?For lodging, check-in is 3pm. On the day of event, wedding setup usually starts at 11 or noon. Check out is 11am on the morning after the last night of lodging. However, given the nature of this venue, the Events Director can grant longer access to the property upon request.

Do we need to hire a planner?We will provide clients with a list of our preferred planners. If hosting a wedding at Boxwood Villa, a planner is required for all events over 30 guests. For all other events, they are not required but recommended. A Day of Coordinator is the minimum that we recommend for events of 150 guests or less. For events of 150+ guests, we require a partial or full service planner. Planners and Caterers must come from our required vendor list. If the event is not a wedding, an event coordinator is still recommended. The Market at Grelen Director of Events can waive this requirement if the wedding is intimate and casual or if the event logistics do not warrant a planner.

Do we need to hire a Caterer?Yes - if you are serving food! We require all Boxwood Villa clients to use an approved full service caterer from our required list. Please inquire with the Events Team to see the full list and please note that Grelen would like the option to provide a quote for all small catering jobs (<50 guests). We do sometimes make exceptions for very casual events. Exceptions to this catering rule must be approved in writing by The Director of Events.

Is there a catering kitchen?No, many caterers have their own catering tent. Please make sure to check with the catering you are hiring to see if they provide one. If they don't, you will need to rent one for approximately $600.

Do I need to rent chairs & tables?Elopement and Micro-Wedding packages include Garden Iron Chairs and Fruitwood Chairs that can be used for ceremony or reception. Tables for dining must be rented by an outside vendor. The furniture in the home can not be moved outdoors for events. For events over 70 guests, chairs and tables must be rented through an outside vendor.

Do I need to rent at tent?If you are purchasing a Micro-Wedding Package or a Grand Celebration Wedding Package, this will include a tent for your event. Depending on the event size and other variables, the Director of Events may approve use of the indoor spaces of the home for rain plan instead of a tent. This permission must be in writing. If your reservation does not include a tent, you will need to reserve a tent as a rain plan. This does involve paying a deposit. If you don't use the tent, you will not need to pay the remaining balance and you can make this decision the week before your wedding. That said, many couples use a tent rain or shine. Tent pricing varies widely, regardless of type, tents look very majestic on "The Lawn" and are typically used for dinner & dancing. If you need additional information or you are interested in tenting your event, please consult our Director of Events before coordinating with a tent company.

What about restrooms?For guest counts > 40, you need to rent our 3 stall onsite luxury restroom trailer for your event. Use of these restrooms are included in the Micro-Wedding Package and the Grand Celebration Wedding Package.
